Privacy Policy

PiggedOff.com Limited (we, us, or our) is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. This privacy policy explains how we use the information we collect about you, how you can instruct us if you prefer to limit the use of that information and procedures that we have in place to safeguard your privacy.

1 The information we collect and how we use it

When you subscribe to our Website we need to know your name, postal address, email address, credit card details including type, number, valid/expiry dates and security code.

We gather this information to allow us to process your subscription, allow you access to the Website and process any postings you may make. The relevant information is then used by us, our agents and sub-contractors to communicate with you on any matter relating to the conduct of your account and the provision of the service in general.

We may also use aggregate information and statistics for the purposes of monitoring Website usage in order to help us develop the Website and our services and may provide such aggregate information to third parties. These statistics will not include information that can be used to identify any individual.

From time to time we may provide your information to our customer service agencies for research and analysis purposes so that we can monitor and improve the services we provide. We or our agents and sub-contractors may contact you by post, email or telephone to ask you for your feedback and comments on our services.

We may also wish to provide you with information about special features of our Website or any other service or products we think may be of interest to you. If you would rather not receive this information, please send a blank email message to unsubscribe@piggedoff.com.

We will never pass on your email address on to a third party for marketing purposes.

We never pass on credit card details to anyone.

2 Our use of cookies and other information gathering technologies

Cookies are small text files that websites can send to your computer. A cookie can be thought of as an internet user's identification card, which tells a website when the user has returned. Cookies are not computer programs, and can't read other information saved on your hard drive. They cannot be used to disseminate viruses, or get a user's email address etc. They only contain and transfer to the website as much information as the users themselves have disclosed to that website.

Cookies make the interaction between users and websites faster and easier. Without cookies, it would be very difficult for a website to allow a visitor to fill up a subscription form or to remember the user's preferences or registration details for a future visit. Our Website uses cookies to allow customers to move from one part of the Website to another and to read and post contributions without having to login repeatedly.

The European Union Directive on Privacy and Electronic Communications (Directive) recognises that cookies are a "legitimate and useful tool" for many activities, including verifying the identity of website users. The Directive makes it compulsory for websites to inform users if cookies are being used (which is exactly what we are doing here!), and to provide some information on how cookies are used. You can find more information on this subject at www.aboutcookies.org. Lastly, the Directive places an obligation on websites to make users aware that they can set their computers to reject cookies. You will find the instructions on how to do this at www.aboutcookies.org. However, you should be aware that our Website (in common with most other subscription websites) will not work without cookies.

3 How we protect your information

The internet is not a secure medium. However we have put in place various security procedures as set out in this policy.

We only ever transport sensitive data across the Internet in an encrypted form. We run a very tight firewall system and check daily for security updates on all of the software that we run, updating our systems as necessary. We also make sure we know about major security problems elsewhere on the internet and maintain our systems accordingly. For security, speed and reliability we only run servers with the Debian Linux and Sun Solaris operating systems.

We also keep your information confidential. Our internal procedures cover the storage, access and disclosure of your information.

4 Sale of business

If this business is sold or integrated with another business your details may be disclosed to our advisers and any prospective purchasers and their advisers and will be passed on to the new owners of the business.

5 Updating your details

If any of the information that you have provided to us changes, for example if you change your email address, name or payment details or if you wish to cancel your subscription, please let us know the correct details by sending an email to info@piggedoff.com or by sending a letter to PiggedOff.com Limited at 21 St Thomas Street, Bristol BS1 6JS.

6 Your consent

By submitting your information you consent to the use of that information as set out in this policy. If we change our privacy policy we will post the changes on this page, and may place notices on other pages of the Website, so that you may be aware of the information we collect and how we use it at all times. We will also email you should we make any changes so that you may consent to our use of your information in that way. Continued use of the service will signify that you agree to any such changes.

Owing to the global nature of the Internet infrastructure, the information you provide may be transferred in transit to countries outside the European Economic Area that do not have similar protections in place regarding your data and its use as set out in this policy. However, we have taken the steps outlined above to try to improve the security of your information. By submitting your information you consent to these transfers.
